This lap of the visit was a success, judging from the massive turnout and participation of the population at the Maroua City Hall.
On the occasion, the NCPBM, under the leadership of its President, H.E Peter MAFANY MUSONGE, gave the population the opportunity to understand the new law on the promotion of official languages in Cameroon in a presentation done by the Secretary General, Dr CHI ASAFOR Cornelius. On the fight against hate speech, the presentation was done by the Vice-President, OUMAROU DJIKA SAIDOU, while living together was treated by Dr Pierre Vincent NGAMBO FONDJO. The last presentation on multiculturalism was done by Pr. Abbe Jean Marie BODO.
Fruitful discussions followed thereafter in the hall and within the 6 commissions created. The population wished to study English which will enable them better interact and carry out business with neighbouring Nigeria. Concerning multiculturalism, they wished to see a greater interaction between the population of the Northern and Southern areas of Cameroon.
The President of the NCPBM reiterated to the participants that “our linguistic and cultural diversities are assets and not a burden for our country”.
