The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism NCPBM, was in Douala from the 31 of October to the 06 of November 2021, on a mission to assess the practice of bilingualism in private enterprises and employers’ organisations.
The mission was led by the president of the NCPBM, H.E. Peter MAFANY MUSONGE, in the presence of all members and the Secretary General, Dr. CHI ASAFOR Cornelius.
During the mission, the NCPBM team explained the merits of the law of 24 December 2019 on the promotion of the two official languages, socioeconomic advantages of bilingualism and government’s position in the fight against hate speech and xenophobia in Cameroon.
The business operators were amongst other things, encouraged to label their products, engage promotional campaigns and render services to consumers and users in the two official languages in order to reach a wider market.
During visits to the headquarters of some companies, it was observed that their respective managements make commendable efforts in promoting the two official languages.
